Kofi & Ali Nyarko

Kofi & Ali Nyarko

In-Country Directors

Kofi and Ali are part of Mercy Project’s mission team in Ghana. They first met in Ghana, where Ali spent time teaching and volunteering. In 2017, they joined the staff to advance relationship building and work in the fishing villages around Lake Volta. Ali was born and raised in Ohio where she graduated with her degree in Early Childhood Education from Ohio University. She was then admitted into Teach for America and spent three years teaching in Charleston, South Carolina where she completed her Masters in Global Studies in Education. Kofi was born and raised in Ghana, where he obtained his degree in Population and Health. Upon graduation, Kofi worked at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital. A few years after meeting Ali, Kofi moved to the United States where the two were married. In the U.S., Kofi worked at the Medical University of South Carolina and volunteered as a research assistant at the Family Services Research Center. Kofi and Ali knew that someday they would move back to Ghana to serve and give back to Kofi’s home country and a place that Ali has come to know and love. The Nyarkos enjoy outdoor activities, running, soccer (Kofi is an accomplished coach and player!), reading, and trying new foods. They are an incredibly joyful couple – a gift to the work in Ghana.
